Beanie Colours and Combinations: Our Seasonal Guide

Colour choice in a beanie matters more than it might seem. You're going to wear it with everything from your winter coat to a quick trip to the shops, so it needs to work across a range of outfits.

Neutral anchors

The most versatile beanies use at least one neutral — cream, oat, charcoal, or grey. A neutral on one side means you always have a low-key option, regardless of what you're wearing. The contrast side can be bolder without the hat becoming impractical.

Autumn and winter pairings

Warm tones work well in the colder months: terracotta with cream, forest green with oat, burgundy with charcoal. These combinations sit naturally with the heavier fabrics and earthier colours that come out in autumn wardrobes.

Spring crossover

As the weather starts to warm, lighter combinations come into their own: pale blue with cream, sage green with light grey. A reversible hat in a transitional palette works from February through to April without feeling seasonally wrong.

Bolder choices

If you want something that makes more of a statement, high-contrast combinations — navy with bright yellow, black with red — give you a hat that's clearly a deliberate style choice rather than a functional afterthought. The reversible side gives you the option to dial it back when needed.
